Our History

Our story began in 2010, when our founder Kathryn Vogel rescued her first group of hens from a local farm. Moved by their gentle nature and intelligence, she realised the urgent need for a rescue service that could save these hens from slaughter and give them a chance to live out their natural lives in a safe and nurturing environment.
Since then, Homes4Hens has grown into a network of dedicated volunteers and supporters who share our vision of a world where all animals are treated with kindness and respect. Through our rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming efforts, we have helped to save tens of thousands of hens from the commercial egg industry and given them a new lease on life.
Our team works tirelessly to provide the best possible care for the hens, including health checks, lice treatment, worming, nutritious food and clean living spaces. We also provide advice and support to new hen owners to ensure that our hens go to loving homes where they will receive the care and attention they deserve.

Our Vision

At Homes4Hens Rescue CIC, our vision is a world where all animals are treated with kindness and respect, and where every hen has the chance to live a happy and healthy life.
We believe that hens are intelligent, social creatures who deserve to be treated with compassion and care.
